JBS Nursing Services
JBS employs a Director of Nursing and a team of nurses whose primary function is the stabilization of its consumers through proper assessment, consumer, staff, and family education, and medication management. The nursing team consists of Licensed Practical Nurses, Registered Nurses and Certified Registered Nurse Practitioners who have experience in residential, outpatient, and inpatient psychiatric nursing. The nurses play an active role in accurately assessing the individual needs of each consumer and assists in the development and completion of an individualized plan of care to ensure optimal care and treatment.
Nurses in the residential program are licensed and trained MAS (Medication Assistance Supervision) Certified Nurses and practice in accordance with the rules and guidelines of the ADMH Nurse Delegation Program. MAS Nurses provide supervision of medication administration in the group home settings, as well as provide specialized medication management such as long-acting injections.
Additionally, many of the outpatient programs have nurses as part of the treatment team. These include the Nova/First Episode Psychosis program, ProACT, Community Outreach and Case Management, Western Mental Health Clinic and the Urgent Care Clinic.
Although community-based, the nursing program at JBS complies with nursing policies and guidelines established by the Alabama Board of Nursing Nurse Practice Act.
